Even though both of these classes were small, the knowledge these students gained was huge. EUA, “English Under the Arches”, was once called English as a Second Language (ESL), but because the focus in class is on learning English through McDonald’s terminology and systems, the name of the class was changed.
English Under the Arches is a series of classes offered by Caspers Company McDonald’s to assist crew and managers in learning some fundamentals of the English language. There are three different classes: Shift Basics, Shift Conversation and Shift Writing. These graduates completed the third class in the series which meets one day a week for twelve weeks. The students also learn through on the floor job training.
Xiomary Rosado at #10187 and Maria Huerta with the Frost Management Company McDonald’s franchisee not only graduated from EUA, but both were promoted to managers. Way to go!!
Ana Vazquez and Janet Beltran also have become managers.
Our own Ines Perez, who is our Caspers Company Spanish Bilingual Education Specialist, graduated from EUA on July 2, 2019. Ines wanted to participate in EUA as a student for two reasons: the first was to improve her own English speaking and writing abilities, but more importantly she wanted to be able to speak to prospective students to let them know first hand the benefits of taking any or all of the EUA classes.
